ANJ broadens advertising cooperation as French online gambling revenue rises
By The Weekly Edge desk ·
France’s online gambling market generated €1.45bn in gross gaming revenue in the first half of 2026, up 11% year on year. Online sports betting stakes increased 10.6% to €6.6bn. The figures followed €11.517bn in sports betting stakes and €1.766bn in gross gaming revenue for 2025. 12
ANJ’s research, published on 12 October, found that players classified as risky or highly risky accounted for 80% to 89% of stakes on certain sports bets. A separate ANJ note identified concerns involving live betting and participation by players showing excessive gambling behaviour, while citing football and tennis as growth drivers. 34
ANJ also expanded its cooperation with advertising body ARPP to cover online games involving monetisable digital objects, including tokens, blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Separately, Dieppe published a municipal casino operating tender with a stated value of €128m and a 16 November submission deadline. 56
